You are reading this on the penultimate Bandcamp Friday of the year, which means that today is the second-to-last chance of 2026 to [complete your Local Files Club collection](https://localfilesclub.bandcamp.com/?ref=localfiles.club) while ensuring that we get to keep 100% of the purchase.

That’s right: zero fees passed on to Bandcamp. Bandcamp Friday is the best Friday to support all of your favourite artists on Bandcamp, whether they’re making music, audiodrama, field recordings, experimental droning, or a single 40-minute long scream.

In honour of Bandcamp Friday, we're chasing down Jon Lily and forcing him to answer our burning questions. Jon is a Skadi’s Symphony regular. We most recently heard him in their production [*God Under Siege*](https://localfilesclub.bandcamp.com/album/god-under-siege?ref=localfiles.club) as Daxx Neutrino, the spacefaring waster who—get this—is holding GOD! UNDER! SIEGE! You might also recognize him from [*Ms. Shipton*’*s Travelling Tea Shop*](https://localfilesclub.bandcamp.com/album/ms-shiptons-travelling-tea-shop?ref=localfiles.club), episode five, as the Hero.

And if you haven’t heard Jon in either of those shows? Well, it is Bandcamp Friday, you know.

### How would you describe yourself to a stranger at a party?

I dunno! This is how far I got before I called Oli \[writer and director of *GUS* & *Shipton*\]—Oli, have you got a good description of me?

**Oliver:** “I would say that you’re a good friend of mine.”

Then that’s what I say! I’m a good friend of Oli’s!

I’m so terrible at talking about myself, I think generally I’m more interested in ideas than materiality. Therefore, it doesn’t come particularly naturally to talk about my *own* materiality. But if I was honest to myself, I wouldn’t say that to a stranger... I would say something relatively low stakes. Like, “Hi, I’m Jon and I’m enjoying this gin and tonic.”

### How do you organise your files?

Well, what do we mean by ‘organising my files?’ I have a lot of different files, in a lot of different places, about a lot of different things, and they all have different levels of organisation.

Am I being paid to organise these files in some form? In which case, they are in a highly structured hierarchy. Am I the only one who’s going to see them? Then they’re still living in my downloads folder.

### Describe your favourite sound effect.

I’ve got a sample pack I downloaded from Splice that’s glaciers cracking and moving. I haven’t got a use for it yet, but it sounds real good.

### What are you listening to when you're not listening to audio fiction?

I’ve been chewing on the latest [Domi and JD Beck album](https://music.apple.com/gb/album/who-asked/6783171570?ref=localfiles.club). It hasn’t hooked me yet.

### Describe your audio fiction listening set-up—your gear, where you’re listening, what you’re doing, etc.

I’m probably doing some perfunctory data entry task at work, and I’m listening with my Marshall over-ear cans.
